YEREVAN, NOVEMEMBER 17, ARMENPRESS. Defense Minister of Armenia Vigen Sargsyan will give new impetus to the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), spokesperson for the RPA, Vice President of the National Assembly of Armenia Eduard Sharmazanov told the reporters after the Executive Body meeting of the party. “We are very happy for Vigen Sargsyan’s decision to become a member of our party. I have known him for years and can say that he always worked with devotion and high professionalism. I think he will give new impetus to the Republican Party”, “Armenpress” reports Sharmazanov saying.

He added that Vigen Sargsyan has already presented his motivations for that decision to media representatives. “After the Constitutional changes it is practically impossible to be a political figure without representing some party. The era of nonpartisan politicians is in the past. The December referendum showed that the role of political parties must rise. If you want to engage in politics you must represent this or that party”, Sharmazanov stated.
