Minister Martirosyan, Minister Sokolov discuss Moscow-Yerevan bus crash

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 14, ARMENPRESS. Minister of Transportation, Communication and Information Technologies Vahan Martirosyan received Russia’s Minister of Transportation Maxim Sokolov on October 14.

Minister Sokolov expressed sorrow regarding the October 14 Moscow-Yerevan bus crash in North Ossetia and stressed that corresponding Russian authorities are working in an extraordinary regime and everything necessary is being done for providing assistance to the victims of the crash.

Minister Martirosyan expressed gratitude for the assistance and support, and said currently works are underway for transporting the passengers of the crashed bus to Armenia. The sides also said that Deputy Ministers of the Armenian Transportation, Communication and Information Technologies and Russia’s Transportation Ministry are headed to the scene to coordinate the works.

Minister Sokolov underscored that the incident is a serious alarm and relevant measures should be taken to increase the safety of inter-state passenger transportation.

The meeting also focused on boosting cargo shipments between the two countries, and opportunities of alternatives routes in case of problems with the Upper Lars highway.
