550 Diaspora-Armenian and 420 foreign students begin studies in Armenian universities

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 13, ARMENPRESS. 550 Armenian students from Diaspora and 420 foreign students began to study in the educational institutions of Armenia starting from October 1, Artur Ghazaryan – head of the Department of International Relations and Diaspora of the Ministry of Education and Science – told “Armenpress”. 70 Diaspora-Armenians have applied to vocational institutions in Armenia.

23 students from Georgia, 170 from Russia, 190 form Iran, 220 from India and 90 from Syria have applied to Armenia’s universities. There are also students from Brazil, Iraq, China, Germany, Greece, Israel, US, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uruguay, Sweden, Romania, Ukraine, Turkey. The applicants from Turkey are Armenians, children of the Armenian citizens.

Artur Ghazaryan said the number of applicants has not been significantly increased or decreased compared to the last two years.

“We tend to take more active measures for cooperating with intermediary organizations which will contribute to increasing interest towards the Armenian universities”, he said.

Many of students from CIS states often stay in Armenia after their studies and continue their activities.
