YEREVAN, JUNE 2, ARMENPRESS. Deputy Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Eduard Sharmazanov held a phone conversation with Vice President of the Bundestag Edelgard Bulmahn.

Sharmazanov said the adoption of the resolution by the Bundestag ("Remembrance and commemoration of the genocide of Armenians and other Christian minorities in 1915 and 1916") will open a new path in the international process of recognition and condemnation of genocides.

“I am sure, that by recognizing and condemning the sever crime which happened 100 years ago it will be possible to thwart new genocides against humanity. With this step Germany reaffirmed its commitment to democratic values and protection of human rights”, Sharmazanov said.

Bulmahn said the resolution named everything accordingly. She stressed the need of facing the history and overcoming difficulties.

The Bundestag adopted the Armenian Genocide resolution on June 2.
