YEREVAN, MAY 31, ARMENPRESS. Founder of the “Alternative” research center Tatul Manaseryan says the reduction of gas tariff may have a certain impact on various sectors of the economy, however, it is not clear that the prices of other products will also decrease.

“Numerous factors affect the prices of products. Especially those sectors (cement manufacture, thermal power, hydropower plants) which consume more gas, can be affected by the reduction of gas tariffs. But we can’t wait to see whether this reduction will be applied on the prices of power or not”, the economist stated.  

To the question if there was an opportunity to decrease the prices more, he said: “Before to make judgments, everyone should have complete information. Until the information is not being provided to the public, no one can make assessments. I think that “Gasprom Armenia” company should present a transparent report over this issue, and then we can make assessments”.

He added it is a long time they presented a proposal over this issue, however, nothing changed, and in this context, only journalists can deal with this issue.

The Public Services Regulatory Commission unanimously adopted the new prices for the “GazProm Armenia” CJSC consumer gas prices.

For consumers of up to 10,000 cubic meters of gas monthly, the price is set to 146,700 (previously 156,000) AMD for 1000 cubic meters.

For consumers of more than 10,000 cubic meters of gas monthly, the price is set to 256.56 (previously 276.98) USD, for 1000 cubic meters.

The prices will be valid from July 1, 2016.
