Armenian Genocide commemorated in US Capitol

YEREVAN, APRIL 28, ARMENPRESS. Members of US Senate and House took part in the annual Capitol Hill remembrance of the Armenian Genocide, Armenian National Committee of America told this to “Armenpress”. The participants stressed that the United States as a matter of national policy should be working towards a truthful and just recognition of the crime of the Armenian Genocide.

Legislators participating in the event expressed concern that the US officials and international community keep indifference in anti-Armenian violence and genocide, even in amid warning signs of renewed atrocities against Nagorno Karabakh.

“We want to thank each of the legislators who joined us today, and the many more who are working to stop official US complicity in Ankara’s genocide denials and bring an end to the Administration’s troubling silence in the face of Azerbaijan’s reckless military escalation against Nagorno Karabakh,” ANCA Executive Director Aram Hamparian said .

Nagorno Karabakh conflict has been at the center of discussion within the participants of the event. Members of Congress called for zeroing out military aid to Azerbaijan, with many urging an increase in assistance in Artsakh in light of recent violence.

Among the federal legislators offering remarks were Robert Menendez, Frank Pallone, Robert Dold, Ed Royce, Adam Schiff, Anna Eshoo, Judy Chu, Katherine Clark, Jim Costa, Linda Sanchez, Loretta Sanchez, John Sarbanes, Brad Sherman, Dina Titus, David Trott and others.
