Yerevan bestseller 4/7: “Lord of the Flies” in the list

 YEREVAN, APRIL 8, ARMENPRESS.This week’s ranking of the "Armenpress" news agency’s "Yerevan bestseller" project is led by Mark Aren's "Where the Wild Roses Bloom”. This is the second novel of the author which describes the inner world of an Armenophobic Turkish former serviceman, when he, already an old man, suddenly hears a lullaby song that reminds him of his mother and later finds out that the song is in Armenian: realizing his parents were Armenians. The same former serviceman spends his remaining life searching the graves of his parents, without knowing that it was a misunderstanding.

"Fahrenheit 451" by Ray Bradbury is 2nd in the list. Fahrenheit 451 is a dystopian novel published in 1953. It is regarded as one of his best works. The novel presents a future American society where books are outlawed and "firemen" burn any that are found. The title refers to the temperature that Bradbury understood to be the autoignition point of paper.

“The Art of Dedication or Dithyramb to a Rose” written by Edgar Harutyunyan comes 3rd.

“The Alchemist”, one of the best creations of Brazilian writer Paulo Coelho is the 4th in the list. The novel is on one’s having a dream and perseverance to make the dream come true coupled with love, kindness and ability to recognize a new country and a new culture.

George Orwell’s “1984” is 5th. The book is labeled as “banned” in many countries of the world.

Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche’s “Thus Spoke Zarathustra” is in the rankings. It was first published in Armenian in 2002.

William Golding’s “Lord of the Flies” is 7th. The novel is regarding as one of the best works of the author.

Khaled Hosseini’s “And the Mountains Echoed” is 8th. The story centers on two children, a brother and sister, who are spending their last hours together on a dusty road leading to Kabul. Then, as if nothing happened. Nobody will remember the joyful Pari, who has been cared and loved by her brother. But Abdullah will. Their subsequent years of life are stories about return, devotion, cruelty, as life in Afghanistan continues being disastrous.

"One Hundred Years of Solitude" by Gabriel García Márquez is ranked 9th. 

 “The Fault in Our Stars” by John Green is concludes the list.
