growth

YEREVAN, MARCH 25, ARMENPRESS. Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan received Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze on March 25.

Welcoming the guest, Armenian PM expressed satisfaction with the dynamic development of friendly relations between Armenia and Georgia and said that frequent high-level mutual visits contribute to the further development of bilateral cooperation. According to Hovik Abrahamyan, there is great potential for deepening the Armenian-Georgian political and economic cooperation, and it is needed continuing steps in this direction.

Mikheil Janelidze noted that Georgia attaches great importance to the development of age-old cooperation with friendly Armenia and his visit is a good opportunity to discuss political and economic cooperation prospects, as well as joint projects. Expressing gratitude for the reception, Prime Minister Mikheil Janelidze conveyed the warm greetings of the Prime Minister of Georgia to Abrahamyan.

As “Armenpress” was informed from the Department of Information and Public Relations of the Armenian Government, referring to the two countries' membership to various integration associations, Armenia's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Georgia said that it provides new opportunities for initiating mutually beneficial bilateral and multilateral programs. Speaking about the expansion of economic ties, the Armenian prime minister said that although 2015 recorded a turnover growth between the two countries; however, it is necessary to continue to work for more progress. Mikheil Janelidze has also highlighted the full usage of the existing potential and confirmed the readiness to implement new joint projects aimed at strengthening Georgia's economic cooperation. In this context the active work of the Armenian-Georgian intergovernmental commission was highlighted.

Hovik Abrahamyan and Mikheil Janelidze expressed satisfaction over the collaboration in the sectors of transport communication and infrastructure improvement, tourism and culture. They highlighted as well the construction of Friendship Bridge at Bagratashen-Sadakhlo main border crossing point between Armenia and Georgia.

The interlocutors exchanged views on the prospects of trade and economic cooperation and joint development of new projects; issues of regional security and stability.
