YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 20, ARMENPRESS. Special project of “Armenpress” news agency “Bestseller of the Year” presenting most in-demand books sums the year with a unique initiative for the second year. “Bestseller of the Year” award ceremony was held on February 20 at LOFT centre and the winners in a number of nominations were announced.

“Usually, we organize the awards ceremony on Mother Language Day, but considering the calendar specifications, we decided to organize the ceremony a day before the holiday. We select the books based not only on quantitative index, but also qualitative one, so as to praise the good book, real literature, good publisher and professionals engaged in books sales. I am glad for the continuation of our initiative”, “Armenpress” reports, Aram Ananyan mentioned at the beginning of the award ceremony.

Vahram Martirosyan was announced the contemporary Armenian author of the year (“Love in Moscow” book). “In our times buying and publishing a book is bravery. This award is very valuable for me”, Vahram Martirosyan stated.

Karlen Matinyan is the author of the most demanded translations of the year who translated into Armenian Elfriede Jelinek's “The Pianist” and Günter Grass “The Tin Drum”. “This award was a surprise for me. I am greatly thankful for it. Great writers Grass and Elfriede are the warrant of my achievement”, Karlen Matinyan stated.

Children's book of the year is the collection “100 classic tales” of “Zangak” publishing house. The publisher of the bestsellers of the year is again “Antares”. Publisher of children's book of the year is “Bookinist”. Writer Grig with his “Jesus’ Cat” was awarded with Levon Ananyan's Special Prize. “Edit Print” Publishing House was awarded with the new special “Time-consistent” Prize.

“LOFT” self-development and entertainment center was announced the supporter of the project.

This is the second time “Bestseller of the Year” is conducted. The first time it took place in 2014.

According to the director of “Armenpress” News Agency, “Yerevan Bestseller” is conducted to familiarize our readers with literary news, good literature, and also to enhance the contention and book sales. Aram Ananyan assures interesting books are always in demand.
