YEREVAN, DECEMBER 1, ARMENPRESS. Vice President of the National Assembly Eduard Sharmazanov calls on not ”protecting” Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh from the Republican Party of Armenia. Sharmazanov said during the meeting with journalists on December 1 that it is immoral to make attempts of “protecting” Nagorno Karabakh from people who started their political career from Karabakh struggle.

“Do not protect our state from us, we are the soldiers of our state. I am saying this to those who manipulate article 205 of the Constitutional Reforms at the highest level of demagogy,” “Armenpress” reports, Sharmazanov emphasized when speaking about article 205 of the Constitutional Reforms which stipulates that issues of Armenia’s membership to supranational international organizations as well as territorial changes  are decided by referendum.

Vice President of the National Assembly noted that the changes established by article 205 have serious significance. He said that when the parliament voted in favour of joining the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), some people claimed that nobody took people’s opinion into consideration.

“Would it be bad to decide by referendum, for instance, whether we join the EAEU or the EU? Regarding those territorial changes, I call on considering the issue from a positive point of view.  I am optimistic about this issue and I urge everyone to be optimistic. One should not be so pessimistic about own leadership and also the opposition,” Sharmazanov concluded.
