Citizens will be granted right to propose Constitutional Reforms. Artsvik Minasyan

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 30, ARMENPRESS. The Constitutional Reforms provide a possibility to the citizens of the Republic of Armenia to have immediate participation in the state government. Member of the National Assembly "Armenian Revolutionary Federation" /ARF/ faction Artsvik Minasyan said the aforementioned during the meeting with the residents of Charentsavan town, Kotayk region in the framework of “Yes and No” TV project.

“For the first time at constitutional level the citizens will have the right not only to make legislative initiatives but also propose referendum. Current Constitution does not allow another body, person or people event millions of people, to propose Constitutional Reforms,” “Armenpress” reports, Minasyan said, adding that in accordance with the new draft, in case 300 thousand signatures are gathered, the citizens can put the Constitutional Reforms they favour to referendum.

Artsvik Minasyan also expressed resentment that some representatives of “No” made wrong comparisons with previous historical periods explaining the collapse of the first republic by parliamentary system of government.

“Armenia was carrying out military actions against Bolshevik, Turkish, Azerbaijani bandits and Georgian nationalists at that period and even during those difficult times it became possible to build independent statehood,” he said.

16 politicians and public figures supporting “Yes” and “No” campaigns visit different places beginning from November 13 to advocate their ideas ahead of the Constitutional Reforms referendum.

The campaign is available live on “Armnews” and “A1+” in the framework of the joint TV show. “Armenpress” regularly releases interesting photo stories of the show.

The Constitutional Reforms referendum will be held on December 6, 2015.
