YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 9, ARMENPRESS. Today, President Serzh Sargsyan received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov who has arrived in Armenia on an official visit.

As the Department of Public Relations and Mass Media of Armenian President’s office informed “Armenpress”, the president welcomed the guest and expressed confidence that as his previous visits, the RF Foreign Affairs Minister’s current visit will be effective and will be an important step geared towards strengthening the allied relations between the two countries. High-level meetings took place within the framework of the events on Eurasian Union, CSTO, CIS formats. According to Armenian President, contacts between the legislative and executive authorities of the two countries have a regular nature. According to the schedule intergovernmental and inter-parliamentary sessions held this year. Recently, the activity of the fourth forum of inter-regional cooperation was successfully completed, to which Chairman of Russia's Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko, arrived in Armenia on official visit, participated.

All the meetings and events, according to the President, were mutually beneficial and effective. According to Serzh Sargsyan, such intensity of communications state the two countries’ mutual curiosity on developing the federal collaboration in all directions and about readiness to jointly  discuss current issues  within the existing frameworks.

The interlocutors agreed that the cooperation in economic, military technical and humanitarian sectors is consistently developing between Armenia and Russia. In the last one and a half years of contractual and legal base is enriched by nearly three dozen interstate, intergovernmental, interdepartmental and inter-regional documents, which, according to them, states saturation of the bilateral agenda. President Serzh Sargsyan highly appreciated Russia’s role in Nagorno Karabakh conflict resolution and in assuring security and stability in the region.

Thanking President Serzh Sargsyan for his reception and conveying RF President Vladimir Putin’s warm regards, the RF Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized that Vladimir Putin is consistent in realizing Armenian-Russian high-level agreements.

Referring to the negotiation procedure of Nagorno Karabakh conflict resolution, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov once again emphasized that there is no alternative to peaceful settlement of the conflict.

The sides also exchanged views on current international issues and challenges.
