Levon Aronian: In Baku I will try to follow example of musicians bringing peace

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 2, ARMENPRESS. Sinquefield Cup winner Levon Aronian commented on his participation in World Chess Cup in Baku.

“I am leaving for Baku in a week and after World Chess Cup I will play in 2015 World Chess Blitz and Rapid Championship in Berlin. Musicians, representatives of different art spheres come to Azerbaijan, these are people who bring peace and I am going to follow their example. I will try to show that I respect the neighboring country applying the best of my chess skills and giving pleasure to the local fans.”, “Armenpress” reports, Aronian said in his interview with chess-news.ru.
Levon Grigori Aronian (born 6 October 1982) is an Armenian chess Grandmaster. On the March 2014 FIDE rating list, he was ranked number two in the world and had an Elo rating of 2830, making him the fourth highest rated player in history. He was taught to play chess by his sister, Lilit, at the age of nine. His first coach was the Grandmaster Melikset Khachiyan. An early sign of his ability came when he won the 1994 World Youth Chess Championship (under-12) in Szeged with 8/9, ahead of future luminaries Étienne Bacrot, Ruslan Ponomariov, Francisco Vallejo Pons, and Alexander Grischuk. Aronian holds a diploma from the Armenian State Institute of Physical Culture.
