Ashotyan: All Armenian schools to become inclusive till 2025

YEREVAN, AUGUST 29, ARMENPRESS. Introduction of the principle of universal inclusiveness throughout the entire educational system of Armenia is an important reform. The Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia, Armen Ashotyan, mentioned about this during the August 29 consultation with the directors and pedagogues of high schools.

“We continue to increase the number of inclusive schools on yearly basis. Up to 15 schools are included in this list every year. At this moment we have nearly 130 inclusive schools. But our final aim is to reach universal inclusive educational system. A system where each pupil will get quality education in accordance with his needs and capabilities. Schools that will be available for children with special educational needs”, “Armenpress” reports, Ashotyan mentioned.

The Minister of Education and Science stressed that it is a complicated aim. “Acknowledging all the difficulties we have taken year 2025 as a deadline. Before that all Armenian schools must become inclusive. The Government is firm to fulfill this. We go ahead irrespective of all the difficulties. Some of the obstacles are psychological. There are opinions that the system will not correspond to the needs of the children. This reforms aims to fulfill the right of all children to education”, he mentioned.

According to the Minister, they will go ahead taking into account all the real and imaginary problems.
