Prime Minister instructs relevant officials to provide all farmers with water without delay

YEREVAN, AUGUST 5, ARMENPRESS. A consultation about the implementation of irrigation in the Republic in 2015 was held on August 5 headed by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Hovik Abrahamyan. As “Armenpress” was informed from the Information and Public Relations Department of the Government Staff of the Republic of Armenia, the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of International Economic Integration and Reforms Vache Gabrielyan, the Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan, chairman of the State Committee of Water Economy of the Ministry of Agriculture Aram Harutyunyan and other officials participated in the consultation.

Chairman of the State Committee of Water Economy of the Ministry of Agriculture Aram Harutyunyan reported about the irritation process of 2015 and mentioned that 800 million drams were allocated by the decision of the Government in 2015 in the framework of full reconstruction of the irrigation systems. The allocated money was spent on the renovation of pumping stations, wells, canals and pipelines.

During the exchange of ideas the Prime Minister inquired from the directors of the WUCs about the water supply efficiency, collection of fees and assigned to implement the water supply process appropriately. “The aim of our today’s meeting is to solve two important issues: First, to supply all land users with water. No farmer must complain that his sowing has been spoiled due to lack of water. August is the hottest month of the irrigation season and I once again assign all of you to supply water on time so as the land users collect the harvest successfully. Work long, work 24 hours, and let your staff have night shifts in order not to provoke any complaints. And second, discipline during the process is required. You must work transparently and frankly”, summed up the head of the Government.
