Specialists consider necessary creating antidote of Armenia’s endemic snakes

YEREVAN, JULY 30, ARMENPRESS: The poison of gurza and Armenian viper is of great danger for people on the territory of Armenia. In case of the bite by these kinds of snakes, the specialists demand immediate medical intervention. Otherwise the consequences might be irreversible. In Armenia there is only one antidote in case of the snake bite, made of the antidotes of Central Asian snakes. In the talk with Armenpress, the specialists of the Institute of Physiology after Orbeli of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia alarmed about the necessity of creation of an antidote of Armenia’s endemic snakes.

“The available snake antidote in Armenia is of general spectrum, which in case of a snake bite, when injecting a patient, may cause different allergic complications. We have two laboratories, which have been studying the poison of the endemic snakes of Armenia for quite a long time, which is, in fact, unique. We are working in the direction of attracting different grants to process the antidote”, - said the Director of the Institute of Physiology after Orbeli of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia.
