YEREVAN, JULY 10, ARMENPRESS. The Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosyan received the Assistant of the Director General of UNESCO for cultural issues Alfredo Pérez de Armiñán. As “Armenpress” was informed from the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia, the Minister, welcoming the guest, expressed her gratitude for accepting the invitation to participate in the 3rd international conference “Cultural policy, politics for culture. The role of culture in “post-2015 agenda” in the framework of the 70th anniversary of the UNESCO.

Highlighting the importance of cooperation with the UNESCO Hasmik Poghosyan emphasized that the UNESCO is an organization which carries a very important mission of preserving culture, education and the right to free expression in this fast changing world. “Armenia gives a great importance to the activities of the UNESCO regarding preservation of cultural values.  This visit will give you an opportunity to discover our country, our culture and our cooperation will be more active in the future”, mentioned Hasmik Poghosyan, stressing that the role and values of culture are priceless in our days.

According to Alfredo Pérez de Armiñán, UNESCO supports two ideologies: united peaceful world and, at the same time, cultural diversity.

As the Minister mentioned, Armenia had no statehood for centuries but under such conditions Armenia developed due to those Armenian individuals who developed it by integrating into the European culture.

At the end of the meeting Hasmik Poghosyan presented Alfredo Pérez de Armiñán with an Armenian duduk and a “Toros Roslin” coin. Alfredo Pérez de Armiñán expressed his gratitude for the invitation, hospitality, readiness for cooperation and promised to return again.
