Police urged to keep under-age children away from Baghramyan Avenue

Police urged to keep under-age children away from Baghramyan Avenue

YEREVAN, JULY 1, ARMENPRESS. Nelly Duryan, head of the third department at the General Department of Criminal Investigation, was at the sit-in site on Marshall Baghramyan Avenue. She was there to see if under-age children taking part in the protest were with their parents.
“We want to see if there are children here and if they are with their parents. I have never before seen so many children at a protest site. It is dangerous for the children to be in places like this,” Nelly Duryan said.
She also said that this is not the first time she is here, adding that she was in plain clothes during her previous visits. “My department is charged with the protection of children, and it is our duty to speak to the children here,” Nelly Duryan said.
The Colonel said that the climate and high temperatures posed a threat to little children, and that it is not possible to let them stay too long in the sun.  “Under-age children are not allowed to stay out late in the evening,” the Colonel said. One of the protesters said that during the days the sit-in was ongoing there were vagrant children and drew her attention to these children. Duryan replied that the Police had always kept a close eye on vagrant children.
