Audit in ENA will take 3-6 months: Davit Harutyunyan

YEREVAN, JUNE 29, ARMENPRESS. It is necessary to plan what developments the energy system of the country will go through till 2036. As Armrenpress reports, Davit Harutyunyan, Minister - Chief of Government Staff of the Republic of Armenia, said the aforementioned in an interview with “Armenia TV.” He added that audit in Electric Networks of Armenia will help to learn to what extent the electricity tariff hike is justified and what consequences there will be if the tariff is not increased.

He highlighted the importance of the choice of the company to carry out the audit laying emphasis that it should be one of the world’s top ten companies and should assure public confidence. According to the Davit Harutyunyan, it is necessary to ensure consultation with the political opposition and civil society activists so that they can jointly select a few companies from the introduced list and then one company will be selected to conduct the audit. The audit will take from 3 to 6 months.

In answer to the comment that even in case of subsidizing the electricity tariff by the government prior to the completion of the audit, it will be covered with the sum collected from the taxpayers, Davit Harutyunyan said that if it turns out that the tariff hike is not justified, the government will charge the sum back from the distribution networks.
