Nobody is for the price hike: Armenia’s ruling party spokesman

YEREVAN, JUNE 26, ARMENPRESS. Both domestic issues and Armenia’s energy security have been discussed at the course of the session of the Executive Body of the Republican Party of Armenia. The Spokesman of the Republican Party of Armenia Edward Sharmazanov stated this in a conversation with the journalists following the session of the Executive Body of the Republican Party of Armenia. Sharmazanov noted that nobody, not even the country’s President, is for the price hike. Moreover, according to Sharmazanov, both the authorities and the protestors seek the same goal.

As reports “Armenpress”, Sharmazanov underscored: “The energy security issues are of a certain importance for the Armenian authorities. It’s not only about AMD 6-7. This is the beginning of the process. The Armenian authorities will spare no effort to have a stable energy security. The energy system must be improved. Nobody wants price hike, nobody advocates it. This is a more global issue. The Government introduced its opinion and the issue is not about abuse. No abuse is included in the AMD 7.”

Among other things, Sharmazanov noted that everything must be done to solve the issue, but it’s not a matter of days. The RPA Spokesman underscored that everything must be done to solve the energy security issue. He said that they respect the peaceful remarks of the activists, their struggle for their rights, and highlighted that all the process must be held peacefully. “We also highly appreciate the Police actions and all the detainees were set free. Today we witness that the process goes in the atmosphere of mutual respect,” the RPA Spokesman said.

“The Armenian authorities will spare no effort to have a possibly stable energy security system. The meeting of the President of the Republic of Armenia with the Russian Minister for Transportation Maxim Sokolov has also been discussed. Two important issues were under the discussion and they received positive solution. First, the President of the Republic of Armenia suggested the Russian partners to conduct audit in the Electric Networks of Armenia and our partners agreed to conduct it as transparent and public as possible,” Sharmazanov emphasized.

Asked how necessary the new audit is and whether the previous one is not trustworthy, Sharmazanov stated that the President of the Republic of Armenia would not do that suggestion, if the new audit was not necessary.
