YEREVAN, 20 MAY, ARMENPRESS. The General Department of Investigation of Specially Important Cases has instigated a criminal case in relation to the shots fired at Governor of Syunik Province Surik Khachatryan’s car with the elements of Articles 34-104 (2) (assassination attempt) and Article 235 (1) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, as the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia reports to “Armenpress”.

According to the press release of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia, on May 20 at 18:15, shots were fired at a Lexus LX 570 parked in the 30^th km section of the Kapan-Goris road, and Governor of Syunik Province Surik Khachatryan was in the car at that moment. According to preliminary data, two other people, including the driver and the governor’s assistant were also in the car. There are no victims.

An investigative-operative group has left for the scene of the crime under the leadership of head of the regional investigative department of Syunik Province Vahram Daghunts. The scene of the crime is being examined, and necessary operative-search measures are being taken to clarify all the circumstances behind the incident.
