JERUSALEM, 24 APRIL, ARMENPRESS. On April 24, a group of deputies of Israel’s Knesset have participated in the Armenian Genocide commemoration ceremonies. As “Armenpress” reports, citing Izrus.co.il, the Chairperson of the “Meretz” party Zehava Gal-On and the member of that party, former Foreign Minister of Israel Yair Tsaban have participated in the commemorative event of the 1.5 million Armenian victims killed by Turks, which was held in the Armenian Church of Jerusalem.

"The Armenian Genocide recognition is our duty. The Jewish nation which has passed through its mass extermination way, understands the consequences of the denial of Holocaust and till today continues to struggle against it, therefore, it must be sensitive towards the tragedies of other nations. Not accepting the Genocide, the Israeli Government uses it for its political needs”, Gal-On stated during the event. Meanwhile, Portal notes that members representing the major factions of Knesset; Anat Berkon from "Likud", Nahman Shay from the Zionist Union participate in the ceremonies held in Yerevan. They were accompanied by Israeli Ambassador to Armenia Shmuel Meirom.
