Keeping silence about genocide today is equal to crime: Armenian Parliament’s Deputy

YEREVAN, APRIL 24, ARMENPRESS: On April 24 the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, Head of Armenia-Latvia Friendship Group Eduard Sharmazanov received Gundars Daudze, Deputy Speaker of the Saeima of Latvia and Elita Gavele, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Latvia to Armenia, Armenpress reports, citing the press service of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.

Welcoming the guests, Eduard Sharmazanov thanked them for being here and expressing grief during these hard days. He has underlined that in the 21st century nobody has the right to forget the crimes and genocides perpetrated towards different nations and in different times, because as the NA Deputy Speaker has noted, keeping silence about genocide today is equal to crime. He has underlined that the progressive mankind should not only condemn the Armenian Genocide, but also should criminalize the denial of the Genocide. Eduard Sharmazanov has expressed hope that the Parliament of Latvia will also complete the list of the countries which have recognized condemned the Armenian Genocide.

Gundars Daudze, Deputy Speaker of the Saeima of Latvia, thanked his colleague for the warm reception and expressed his support for the committed crime. He has highlighted the strengthening of bilateral ties and deepening of cooperation.
