Armenia has declared the solution to Armenian youth’s social issues as a strategic direction

YEREVAN, 18 APRIL, ARMENPRESS. Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan participated in the April 17-19 inter-university student conference held in Tsakhkadzor with the title “Economic System of the Republic of Armenia: Innovation, Development, Implementation”. As the Department of Information and Public Relations of the Government of the Republic of Armenia reports to “Armenpress”, greeting the participants of the conference, the Prime Minister mentioned that the goal-oriented use of the physical and intellectual potential of youth is one of the major preconditions for the stable development of the state and society in the world today and, for that reason, the Government of the Republic of Armenia has declared the youth’s active involvement in society and social security as the strategic direction of the country’s social policy. “We are carrying out several programs to solve the issue of youth unemployment and social issues. There are various issues, and there is a lot of work to do. I’m certain that we’ll be capable of improving the situation to a great extent, alongside economic advancement,” Hovik Abrahamyan said.

The head of government said one of the major issues facing the country is employment and expressed certainty that one of the ways of reducing the level of unemployment is to raise professional skills and engage the youth in entrepreneurship. The head of government also mentioned that the government has taken concrete steps to build a knowledge-based economy and that the results will be seen soon.

Hovik Abrahamyan also said it was nice to see that the participants of the conference were focusing highly on the process of recognition of the Armenian Genocide, adding that this not only goes to show the youth’s participation in the events for the commemoration and remembrance of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, but also serves as a unique call to youth around the world to contribute to the prevention of such crimes.

The head of government also touched upon the perspectives of Armenia’s economic development and the steps that are being taken in that direction.“I hope and am certain that we will see the results of the current programs after the second semester of the year. Despite the several predictions that Armenia will see an economic downturn due to the tension in the region, the relations between Russia and the West and the sanctions against Russia, but I’m certain that we will record economic growth this year,” the Prime Minister mentioned.
