YEREVAN, 6 MARCH, ARMENPRESS. Ahead of International Women’s Day, the Department of Information and Public Relations of the Ministry of Defense hosted the screening of the video “Weak Gender, Strong Profession” about women serving in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia at the administrative complex of the Ministry of Defense.

As the Department of Information and Public Relations of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia reports to “Armenpress”, the floor was given to student of the Vazgen Sargsyan Military Institute of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia Mariam Vardanyan, Armenuhi Gharibyan, who is a mother of three brothers serving in the army simultaneously and President of the “Mother of a Soldier” NGO Anahit hovnanyan. The speeches were followed by congratulatory remarks by Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan.

The minister congratulated the mothers of all soldiers of the Armenian army and especially bowed in memory of the mothers whose sons had died in the battles for the defense of the homeland. The minister also granted certificates of appreciation to women with more than one child serving in the army and, as a gift, granted a vacation to their sons to spend International Women’s Day with their mothers. Awards, medals and valuable gifts were granted to outstanding women serving in different subdivisions of the Armed Forces, veterans of the Great Patriotic War, freedom fighters, special civil servants, as well as the wives and mothers of deceased soldiers.
