YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 11, ARMENPRESS. One of the legends of the Armenian and Soviet football, one of the best Armenian football players of all times Khoren Hovhannisyan has turned 60. Talent is not enough to maintain your positions among the bests, it’s necessary to be hard-working, and these two factors make you the best in the realm. “Armenpress” News Agency talked to the legendary footballer about “Ararat”, the past 60 years, and the upcoming celebrations due to be held in March.

“How can I forget the match with Bayern Munich? That was my first official match within the framework of the Champions Cup. We played with the German club in the quarterfinals and they became champions that very year. We celebrated a victory with the score of 1-0, but we lost after the away match. It seemed that the walls of our home helped us here; the people, the air, everything,” Hovhannisyan recalled.

Among other things, the legendary Armenian footballer, who scored a goal in the match against Argentina and stated: “Those were very interesting moments; particularly the Argentine team became champions that year. Such football stars like Maradona were playing for Argentina. We managed to play a tie with the score 1-1 in Argentina. The both matches ended with the same score.”

Khoren Hovhannisyan, who also worked as the head coach of the Armenian national football team in 1996-97, noted that he does not want to train the Armenian team anymore.

“The 60 years are a great experience and the beginning of something new,” the legendary Armenian footballer concluded.
