YEREVAN, JANUARY 29, ARMENPRESS. The 5th session of the State Commission on Coordination of the events for the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide kicked off in the Government’s reception hall on January 29. The Chairman of the Commission, the President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan presided over the session.

Along with the members of the state commission, the representatives of regional committees, experts, diplomatic representatives of the Republic of Armenia, heads of the dioceses of the Armenian Holy Apostolic Church also participated in the expanded session. The Mass Media and Public Relations Department of the President’s Office informed “Armenpress” that Serzh Sargsyan expressed his gratitude to the attendees for accepting the invitation and personally participating in the state commission’s session, attaching particular importance to holding a session in this format, which allows to conduct an efficient discussion together on the issues of pan-national significance and jointly come to decisions.

Among other things, the President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan informed the participants of the session that on these days the representatives of regional committees had meetings with the main coordinator of the events and other members of the state commission, during which they discussed the preparatory activities held in various countries of the world. They will continue their activities tomorrow as well, to discuss the juxtaposing of the April 22-24 events and future activities.

In his speech, the President reflected on the activities carried out by the state commission up to this day and future actions, as well as the issues of particular importance, which must be introduced for the discussion within the framework of the session’s agenda. Hence, the members of the commission will discuss the political context of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide and the issue of adoption of the pan-Armenian Declaration on the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, events of commemoration, and issues of activities on preparation of the package on legal claims for overcoming the consequences of the Armenian Genocide. Also, the presentation of the webpage of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide will be held at the course of the session.
