Azerbaijan makes subversive attempts in direction of Armenia's Tavush

YEREVAN, JANUARY 23, ARMENPRESS. The situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border remains intense. The rival violated the ceasefire regime 300 times in the night of January 22-23. In a conversation with “Armenpress”, the Press Spokesman of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia Artzrun Hovhannisyan stated that due to the rival’s shooting the Armenian side had two casualties. Lieutenant Karen A. Galstyan and Private Artak V. Sargsyan were killed.

Among other things, the Press Spokesman of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia Artzrun Hovhannisyan underscored: “The rival continues carrying out actions destabilizing the situation on the border; the tactics of carrying out subversive acts and attacks in different parts of the entire border of the Republic of Armenia and the Nagorno Karabakh Republic continues. The Azerbaijani armed forces, taking no account of their numerous losses, which they are hiding, continue carrying out subversive acts, which make no sense from the tactical viewpoint. At around 9:00 in the morning, the Azerbaijani special task forces started attack in several directions of the military positions of the Berd region in Armenia’s Tavush Province. The relevant units of the Armenian Army noticed them in time and the combat began, which lasted about 30 minutes. The rival was thrown back with casualties failing to realize its objective. But unfortunately, the Armenian side had two casualties and injured.

The Azerbaijani military-political elite is responsible for all the consequences of the escalation.”
