According to the decree of the President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, the serviceman of the N military unit, junior sergeant Nahapet A Asatryan was posthumously awarded with the Medal for Military Service for defending homeland's borders and self-sacrifice. The Mass Media and Public Relations Department of the President’s Office informed “Armenpress” about this.

Previously it was reports that in the night of January 20-21, the rival made another attempt of sabotage and reconnaissance infiltration at around 03:00 in the Karvachar direction of the line of contact of the Karabakh-Azerbaijani opposing armies. The front units detected the advancement of the rival’s special task forces, which were thrown back to the primary positions suffering losses. Serviceman Nahapet A. Asatryan (born in 1982) was killed and serviceman Hovhannes O. Gasparyan (born in 1973) was wounded due to the fights.
