YEREVAN, 17 DECEMBER, ARMENPRESS. Minister of Finance of the Republic of Armenia Gagik Khachatryan has touched upon the situation in the country’s financial market and has emphasized that the government and the Central Bank are taking steps to stabilize the situation. During a press conference at the National Assembly, Khachatryan stressed the fact that the issue related to the policy on currency and loans is within the powers of the Central Bank, but it concerns everyone since the devaluation of the Dram is having a great impact on the country’s economy. “That’s why we’re trying to get out of this situation through combined efforts. The government is discussing the issue on a daily basis. Unfortunately, the government doesn’t have many tools,” Khachatryan declared, as “ArmenPress” reports.

When asked if the Central Bank is guilty for the situation that has been created, Gagik Khachatryan mentioned that it’s not about who’s guilty and who’s not. He emphasized that even though all countries are facing similar problems, everything happened very quickly in Armenia. “The Central Bank is assessing the reasons why this happened and will be working on solving the problem,” the minister said.
