Government to solve housing issues for homeless families in Gyumri next year

YEREVAN, 3 DECEMBER, ARMENPRESS. The Armenian government is still focused on the housing issues facing families that have remained homeless since the 1988 earthquake in Gyumri and will be taking big steps to solve those issues next year. This is what Armenia’s Minister of Urban Development Narek Sargsyan announced during a question-and-answer session with government officials at the National Assembly, in response to the question raised by Deputy of the Country of Law Party’s faction Hovhannes Margaryan. “Based on our final calculations, it turns out that there are 430 families that remained homeless as a result of the disaster in Gyumri. The government has already allocated nearly $1,450,000 dollars to grant homes to 215 families before June 2015 and will grant homes to 215 more families during the second half of the year,” Sargsyan mentioned, according to “ArmenPress”.

Sargsyan also mentioned that the government will then solve the housing issues for 260 families in the villages of Shirak province and nearly 200 families in the Lori province.
