Stepanakert reminds of necessity of Karabakh’s return to negotiation table

YEREVAN, AUGUST 5, ARMENPRESS. The border situation is stable and the Armenian armed forces are able to serve effectively and push back the enemy, ensuring the safety of the country and the population. David Babayan, the NKR presidential press secretary, in an interview with "Armenpress" assures that both the people and the armed forces are strong and assertive. "No one in Artsakh wants war, but definitely there will be no return to the former borders. This is clearly understood by both the country’s military and political leadership, the defense army and the people," said David Babayan. Referring to the meeting of the Armenian and Azerbaijani Presidents - Serzh Sargsyan and Ilham Aliyev, to be held in Sochi on August 8-9, David Babayan emphasized that Stepanakert highlights each of similar meetings, as they are primarily aimed at conflict settlement and peace building in the region.

"As long as negotiations go on, it means that peace process is underway. However, one should not expect from such meetings that the conflict will be immediately solved, because the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is one of the most complicated, and it will take many years before it is solved," said Babayan, stressing that at the meeting special attention should be paid to the circumstance of restoring the format of negotiations as soon as possible.
