James Warlick concerned about upsurge in violence along Line of Contact

YEREVAN, AUGUST 1, ARMENPRESS. The U.S. Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group James Warlick expressed his concerns about the recent incidents and subversive acts on the line of contact. As reports “Armenpress”, the U.S. Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, Ambassador James Warlick made the following note in his Twitter page: “We are seriously concerned about the recent upsurge in violence along the Line of Contact. The ceasefire needs to be respected.”

The rival attacked military positions of one of the military units located in the northern direction of the line of contact of the Karabakh-Azerbaijani opposing armies on July 31. The Press Service of the Ministry of Defense of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic informed “Armenpress” that facing with an organized resistance of the military position’s personnel, the rival was thrown back to the primary positions suffering numerous losses. Unfortunately, two serviceman of the Karabakh Defense Army were killed in the result of the operation. An investigation has been launched to reveal the details of the incident.

The entire territory, which was subjected to assault by the Azerbaijani side, is currently under the control of Karabakh’s Defense Army. A vast amount of special weaponry and technical means has been confiscated from the rival due to the operative measures taken. Due to the subversive act, the Azerbaijani side announced about 9 casualties, notwithstanding there is information about 14 casualties.
