Signboards with Armenian inscriptions appear in Van's Artamed streets

YEREVAN, JULY 25, ARMENPRESS. Signboard with inscriptions in Armenian language has been added in the streets of Artamed (Edremit) city in Van province. As “Armenpress” reports, Turkish “Doghan” news agency informed about this.

The Mayor of Artamed city, member of Kurdish-oriented “Party of Democratic Regions” (DBP) Sevil Çetin stated on that occasion, that their purpose is to end the hostile perceptions and formation of sympathy toward the Armenians in society.

“Kurdish people have historical, cultural and social similarities living side by side with the Armenian people . Before 1915 Van and Edremit had been populated with Armenians. For that reason we will not allow the Armenian history erased and Armenian culture destroyed by government or its wish. We did that step as an expression of respect toward the Armenians,” Sevil Çetin underscored.
