YEREVAN, JULY 22, ARMENPRESS. The testing of the basic systems of “AREAL” (Advanced Research Electron Accelerator Laboratory) linear accelerator is completed, the decisive final phase of accelerator operation – the first bunch of electrons was achieved. The opening of “AREAL” linear accelerator was held at the CANDLE Synchrotron Research Institute, on July 22.

According to the CANDLE project leader Vasily Tsakanov this is a historic event for both the staff of CANDLE Institute and the development of science in Armenia. "Such kind of projects are very complicated in terms of implementation. We are talking about an ultramodern accelerator, which is governed by a laser system. It is very important to note that the cooperation with the German and Swiss companies was not only in terms of training of specialists, but also material assistance, providing modern equipment, which is an invaluable support," reports “Armenpress”, citing Vasily Tsakanov, who expressed hope that the second phase of the project will start soon.
