Armenia’s President concerned over migration more than any other people

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 15, ARMENPRESS: Migration is one of the most painful and critical problems of the Republic of Armenia. The President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan told about it at the 10th congress of the “Yerkrapah” Volunteers Union on February 15, answering the question of the historian Edik Minasyan. “Let no one think that he is more concerned about this problem than me. Indeed, the migration issue is one of the problems, which I am much concerned about. On the other hand, I do not accept the speculation of this issue for political purposes. I do not accept the solution of this issue, beating on the knees and crying. It is clear for everybody that this process has a temporary nature and it shows various tendencies of development in different times”, - said Sargsyan, Armenpress reports. According to him, in 1992 200,000 people left Armenia and in 2001 – about 60,000.

“Thanks to God, in the further years the process slowed down and not only slowed down, but also turned into immigration. For 2013 31,000 is a great figure, as the population of our country is just 3 million. The picture would have been quite different and we would not have been concerned so much if the population was 10 or 12 million”, - said the President of Armenia. “On the other hand, 31,000 is not the figure, against which we could not struggle to reduce it. We will succeed by all means. This audience should understand that the problem does not stop being a problem, if you stop talking about it. The problem is never solved with crying and speculation. It should be solved with work. We need to work together”, - said Serzh Sargsyan, adding that in a time we will have a positive balance.
