Armenian representative to Eurovision 2014 to be announced on New Year's eve

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 24, ARMENPRESS. Armenia’s representative to Eurovision 2014 will be declared on New Year’s Eve. As reports “Armenpress” citing the official website of the contest many rumours and a lot of excitement have already been created surrounding the Armenian participation in the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest. On New Year's Eve, finally, we will get to know the representative, who has been internally selected, as the Armenian public broadcaster AMPTV announced today.

In the Big Night Gala TV Show, which will be broadcast on Armenia's First Channel on December 31st, Eurovision fans from all over Europe will finally find out who will represent the country in Copenhagen. The candidate has already been internally selected, as AMPTV announced today.

During the live broadcast on New Year's Eve, the singer will be revealed, and sing one of their most popular hits. The actual Eurovision song will be chosen and presented by February.

In 2013, Armenia was represented by Dorians, who sang Lonely Planet in Malmö. The country's most successful Eurovision entry to date has been Sirusho, who came fourth in 2008 with Qélé Qélé.

Since 2008, the Eurovision Song Contest consists of three live shows, aired prime-time to millions of homes across Europe. During two Semi-Finals, viewers and juries across Europe determine which countries will be represented in the Final.

The first Semi-Final will be broadcast live in some 20 countries represented in the show and several other nations. You can also watch it online here on Eurovision.tv!

Artists from some 17 countries will compete in the first Semi-Final, as ten spots for the Final are at stake. Viewers and professional juries each have a 50 percent stake in the outcome. The professional juries will feature six members in each country. The televoting window will be opened after all the songs have been performed.

In addition to the participating countries, voters from 3 out of the countries that are automatically qualified for the Final (the United Kingdom, Sweden, Italy, France, Spain, Germany) will vote in this Semi-Final. The exact countries will be determined by a draw.

The 10 qualified acts will be announced in random order, and to raise the excitement the ranking and other voting results will not be announced until right after the Final.

The second Semi-Final will be broadcast live in the some 20 countries represented in the show and several other nations. You can also watch the second Semi-Final online here on Eurovision.tv!
