Armenian musicians say "No" to war in Syria

YEREVAN, 14 OCTOBER, ARMENPRESS. The Armenian jazz, rock and folk musicians will come together over a joint action dedicated to peace in Syria and the Middle East. The musical event titled "Voice vs. War" will last 5 days and will be held in the general avenue, in the middle of Saryan str. and Mashtots avenue. As reports Armenpress at the course of the press conference held on 14 October, the soloist of "Vostan Hayots" ensemble Hovhannes Kurghinyan stated that the main idea of the event is to predispose the public against the war. "We want to draw the people's attention on the reasons of wars and who profits from them," Kurghinyan noted.

According to him the event aimed against the war is not merely a musical performance, but a civil initiative as well.

The producer of "Reform" holding Varduhi Dovlatyan stated that there are over 100 singers, who want to participate in the event.

According to her the initiative will say "No" to the war in a unique way. "The concerts of different styles and musical evenings will last 5 days, the solemn closing ceremony will be held on Sunday," Dovlatyan said adding that the vast majority of the participants are young musicians notable for their active civil standpoint.
