Armenia and Artsakh to take part in a photo contest “Wiki loves Monuments 2013”

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 2, ARMENPRESS: International photo contest held in more than 50 countries “Wiki loves monuments 2013” has kicked off in which take part Armenia and Artsakh. “Armenpress” was informed about this from educational non-governmental organization “Wikimedia Armenia”. In the contest can take part both professional and non-professional photographers. The participants can introduce photos taken both in September and earlier.

There are millions of monuments in the world but photos of only small part of them are available with free license. The aim of organizers and participants of the contest is to fill that gap. During preparation works of the contest in Armenian Wikiepdia has been put lists of around 25 000 monuments in the Republic of Armenia and Artsakh having status of “immovable monument of history and culture”. Participants of the contest can be informed about monuments, find them and photo them.

In order to support and encourage the participants “Photo hikes” will be organized in Yerevan, Gyumri, Vanadzor, Goris and Shushi.

The local winners of the contest will be decided by professional jury. There will also be special prizes.

The best 10 photos will take part in international stage. International jury will chose the best ten photos from each country.
