YEREVAN, JANUARY 25, ARMENPRESS.  President Serzh Sargsyan and Mrs. Rita Sargsyan attended the concert dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia which took place at Aram Khachaturian Grand Concert Hall.

The Youth Orchestra of Armenia was founded in November 2005, with the efforts of the students of the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory. Sergey Smbatyan, violinist and prize-winner in international competitions, is the chief conductor and artistic director of the orchestra. In the concert programme of the Youth State Orchestra are included the works of Armenian, Russian and West-European composers of different epochs. In 2008 on the special decision of the Government of the Republic of Armenia the orchestra was granted the title of State Orchestra for their high professionalism and expansion of contemporary music.  Since 2009 SYOA has been a member of European Federation of National Youth Orchestras (EFNYO).

Starting from 2010 the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia has been holding the Armenian Composers’ Art Festival under the high patronage of the President of the Republic of Armenia.
