YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 27, ARMENPRESS. President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has announced that RF support to the Syrian government is a crucial mistake. “Armenpress” reports, citing Hurriyet”, Erdoğan particularly mentioned, “Indeed, supporting the Syrian regime, which has killed 380,000 people, is playing with fire. Striking opposition groups that have international legitimacy with the excuse of fighting against the “Islamic State” is playing with fire”, the Turkish President said.

“Using the incident (destruction of Russian jet in Syria) in which Turkey’s righteousness is accepted by the whole world as an excuse to torment our citizens who were in Russia to attend a fair is playing with fire.  Irresponsibly hitting trucks in the region that could be there for trade or humanitarian reasons is playing with fire. We sincerely advise Russia not to play with fire” he added.

The Russian Su-24 bomber was shot down over Syria by an air-to-air surface fired from a Turkish F-16 plane when the bomber was at an altitude of 6,000 meters at a distance of 1 km from the Turkish border. The jet dropped 4 km away from the Turkish border. The incident took place on November 24. Both pilots ejected. One of them was shot dead while landing by a Turkish commander fighting in Syria against Government forces.

According to President Putin, the Su-24 plane incident in is "a stab in Russia’s back” delivered by terrorist accomplices.

Russian Federation Council suggests to temporarily suspend all ties with Turkey. Turkey has applied to UNSC and NATO to discuss this incident.
