YEREVAN, JULY 27, ARMENPRESS.  The sit-in in the center of the Republican square intended by the “Stand up, Armenia” civil movement did not take place.  The Police did not allow a few dozens of protestors to conduct an illegal demonstration against the increase of electricity tariff as the central part of the Republican center is considered a cultural territory.

Deputy Chief of Yerevan Police suggested the protesters to conduct the sit-in in another part of the Republican square. The Police gave them time to choose another place.

The protesters walked up and down along the zebra crossings of the streets entering the Republican square trying to disrupt the traffic. But the Police managed to restore the public order within a short time.

A few dozens of protesters are still in the territory of the Republican square, at the beginning of Vazgen Sargsyan Street.
