Armenian innovators ideas to compete in National Cleantech Competition

JULY 1, YEREVAN, ARMENPRESS. The projects introduced for the National Cleantech Competition of 2015 stand out for their quality and a more scientific approach as compared to the last year. 30 start-ups participate in the annual contest that was first held last year. The projects presented their business ideas in the fields of energy saving, renewable energy, energy generation from waste, saving water resources.   

Anahit Simonyan, project officer at the Armenian Mission of the United Nations Industrial Development Office (UNIDO) told Armenpress that 45 organizations have applied to compete for the prize money of USD 10 000, which is the most important award of this year’s contest. 30 out of these 45 organizations have been selected to participate in the competition.  

“The purpose behind this project is to implement in Armenia the idea and philosophy of application of green technologies. This is how business shall be carried on in the future. It implies creation of environment-friendly technologies and an incentive for the use of clean technologies, be it in the form of energy saving, zero waste or reduction of waste water,” Anahit Simonyan said.

Renewable energy projects prevailed among those introduce for this year's contest.
