YEREVAN, MAY 25, ARMENPRESS: After about 20 years of waiting the population of the Sasunik community of Aragatsotn Region of Armenia has a new kindergarten. The newly-built kindergarten in Sasunik was built with the sponsorship of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund’s Great Britain branch and Sasunik village administration.
The community of 4000 had no kindergarten building since 1998. As a result, some of the children had to attend a kindergarten in nearby Ashtarak town, with others taking classes in the college located at the community school building. The two-story facility will open its doors fully furnished and with an improved surrounding area.
Armenpress reports that during the opening ceremony of the kindergarten, the Director of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund Ara Vardanyan told the journalists that such initiatives are important not only for the better future of the state but are also a good example. “If the programs in the Nagorno Karabakh Republic are co-financed by the communities, in Armenia such examples are very few. In this case the example of the Sasunik community should become contagious for the others, as the community had its contribution in the construction of the kindergarten. I hope that in ten years the building of the kindergarten will be small for the children of Sasunik”, - said Vardanyan. The community members’ occupations include viticulture, husbandry and animal breeding, with more than 100 residents employed at Sasunik’s wine factory.
