YEREVAN, OCTOBER 30, ARMENPRESS. The Head of the Press, Information, and Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Mkrtchyan responded to the statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan regarding the opening of kindergarten in the city of Kovsakan (Zangelan) in the Kashatagh region of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic. The Azerbaijani side made an attempt to introduce this as a provocative step claiming that there were no Armenians in Kovsakan before 1993.

Responding such statements, the Head of the Press, Information, and Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Mkrtchyan expressed his surprise regarding such a statement by Baku. As reports “Armenpress”, Tigran Mkrtchyan particularly stated: “No Armenians in Zangelan before 1993? If your polit. history begins in XXth cent, doesn't mean there isn't history before that.”
