American cruiser Vella Gulf arrived in Batumi

YEREVAN, AUGUST 18, ARMENPRESS. The U.S. Aegis guided missile cruiser USS Vella Gulf visits port of Batumi on Georgia’s Black Sea on August 18-20, informs “Armenpress”.

“The Vella Gulf’s visit reaffirms the United States’ commitment to strengthening ties with NATO allies and partners like Georgia, while working toward mutual goals of promoting peace and stability in the Black Sea region,” the U.S. embassy in Tbilisi said on August 18.

While in Georgia Vella Gulf (CG 72), which is from the U.S. Navy 6th Fleet, will conduct “routine combined training with the Georgian Coast Guard, provide ship tours, and host a reception for local officials,” according to the U.S. embassy.

“The Vella Gulf's port visit will build on previous U.S. Navy visits to Georgia that enhance the professional and personal relationships between the United States and its allies and regional partners,” the U.S. embassy said.
