Prominent Armenians remind world about Armenian Genocide
YEREVAN, APRIL 24, ARMENPRESS. All the Armenians scattered around the world are next to Armenia on the Remembrance Day of the Armenian Genocide. With their messages they either introduce the memories of their families about the Genocide or demand the recognition of the Genocide, stressing that in this regard not much has been done. As reports “Armenpress”, singer Cher posted on her Twitter microblog: “It’s true about Genocide! Turks deny it. But it happened! Like we killed the original Americans, the Turks murdered Armenians”.
French-Armenian legendary singer Charles Aznavour has shared his video “Ils sont tombes” (“They fell”) on his Facebook official page. “Today, on April 24, we commemorate the 99th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. This song was written in 1975 by Aznavour and Georges Garvarentz on the 60th anniversary. Up to now, no justice, no recognition and no atonement” – is written on Aznavour’s page.
Canadian-Armenian opera singer Isabel Bayrakdarian shared on her Facebook page the song “Crane” by Komitas, adding: “99 years. We remember”.
