Findings discovered in Red Hill site find place in exhibition

YEREVAN, APRIL 16, ARMENPRESS. The Deputy Mayor of Yerevan Aram Sukiasyan attended the opening of the exhibition entitled “On traces of history” in History Museum Hall of Yerevan. The findings discovered in Red Hill historical-cultural sites are presented in the exhibition which date back to the period of Urartu until the 1st century AD.

The Department of Mass Media and Public Relations of the Municipality of Yerevan informed Armenpress that the archaeological site with 40 hectare area consists of pre-Urartu settlement, Urartian city having a citadel. From the 6th century BC to the 1st century AD it served as a necropolis. Household ceramic and glass objects, jewelry, bronze parts of weapons and other things are presented in the exhibition.

The area was discovered in 1939, the first excavations completed in 1968. During them the name of the town was also revealed, which is noted in the manuscript with the name of Teyshebain.
