Islamic Studies Center opened in YSU

YEREVAN, AUGUST 27, ARMENPRESS: A Center for Islamic Studies has been opened at the Yerevan State University. The opening ceremony was attended by the rector of the Yerevan State University Aram Simonyan and the members of the delegation of the Institute for Humanities and Culture of Tehran. As reported by Armenpress, the Republic of Armenia and the Islamic Republic of Iran have been in good relations for a long time.

“The Institute for Humanities and Culture of Tehran and the Yerevan State University have been implementing different programs in the field of translation, science and research and education. 56 faculties function for those particular programs. The Center for Islamic Studies will work to study Islamic philosophy, literature, ethics, translation, aesthetics and other fields”, - said the rector of the Yerevan State University Aram Simonyan at the meeting with the members of the delegation of the Institute for Humanities and Culture of Tehran. 

The Head of the Institute for Humanities and Culture of Tehran Hamidreza Ayatollahy as well highly evaluated this step of the Yerevan State University, stating that such faculty was established in Teheran too.

“In our department we have already established a faculty of Armenian Studies and the first work, which is already ready for the translation, will be the work of the father of the rector of the Yerevan State University Aram Simonyan, Hrachik Simonyan”, - said the member of the Iranian delegation.

In 2012 a faculty of Armenian Studies was opened at the Institute for Humanities and Culture of Tehran. The opening ceremony was attended by the Prime Minster of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan and the Minister of Education and Sciences of Armenia Armen Ashotyan.
