Great Britain supports Nagorno-Karabakh conflict peaceful settlement within Minsk group format
YEREVAN, JULY 27, ARMENPRESS: Great Britain is assisting the peaceful regulation of Nagorno Karabakh issue within the framework of OSCE Minsk Group operations. British Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Azerbaijan Peter Bateman came forth with the statement, Armenpress reports citing Azerbaijani mass media.
‘’ Jointly with our European partners we are ready to step up efforts for the peaceful settlement of the issue based on the principles of self-determination, territorial integrity and non-use of force" Bateman noted.
To the question how the diplomat refers to Nagorno Karabakh current stage and whether Great Britain is for Euro Union role activation in the process, Beteman was quoted as saying, ‘’ Great Britain is not a key player in conflict settlement: it is OSCE Minsk Group headed by Co-Chairing states to deal with the issue.
Referring to the application of Northern Ireland conflict sample in the case of Nagorno Karabakh, Bateman stated Northern Ireland conflict’s emerging preconditions differ from that of NK conflict. However, the Ambassador underscored, there are common traits between these two processes, which if necessary will be utilized in Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement.
